Upgrading to SONAR X3... on a different PC

Is that possible? I currently use SONAR X1 Producer Expanded on a laptop (2x core, 4GB RAM ...), but I'm building a crazy gaming PC specifically for SONAR X3 (8x core, 16-32GB RAM ). So... is it possible for me to install the upgrade on that new PC, or does it have to have some older version previously installed there in order for it to work?

Thanks in advance.

The upgrade is the full retail version of X3 at a reduced price. No previous version need be installed on the new machine. That said if you want V-Vocal, a minimum X1 install is necessary. It does not matter if the advanced install of X1 occurs before or after the X3 install.

    Yup - I have 3 computers.  2 of them have X1, X2, and X3 on them, and the 3rd just has X3.

You are allowed to install it on another computer, but you cannot run Sonar on more than 1 computer at the same time.  So, if you have X3 on your studio desktop and on a laptop, you can take the laptop and go capture a live performance or do some mobile recording, but you would not be allowed to concurrently have your studio desktop's Sonar running at the same time you are 50 miles away recording something else with the X3 on the laptop.

It has always been this way for Cakewalk licensing, and has been FABULOUS of them to set it up this way.

I wish some of my other music software worked the same way.  For my Arturia V Collection, I can have it licensed on a single computer at a time, so if I want to take my laptop off to a gig and record something that uses one of the Arturia V Collection synths, I have to first remember to deactivate the studio desktop Arturia license before I leave for the gig, or I am out of luck when I try to activate the laptop Arturia license.

Quite the pain in the arse.

Sooooo, THANK YOU, Cakewalk for how you handle licensing.
