Using AD2 Samples with EZD

I've been using EZD for so long now that AD2 just seems confusing. And I have yet to find a start-to-finish tutorial that goes from selecting patterns to building a track. I found one that started this, selected patterns for verse and chorus, but didn't go into selecting breaks. I don't even know if AD2 _has_ breaks or turn-arounds.

So, because I'm far more familiar with the way EZD does things, is there a way to (easily) use for instance the Vintage Dry samples with EZD? Or am I just dreaming? Perhaps this is what the up-coming drum replacement thing is all about?

There is a drum map for AD2 to read EZD midi. Yes, EZD 2 is a great for building tracks. I have never really focused on AD2's pattern browser.

Toontracks EZ Player Pro makes it easy to use EZ Drummer with AD2 or Abbey Rd 70's or Battery or others. Very underrated bit of software, I believe. There are great videos on youtube.

is there a way to (easily) use for instance the Vintage Dry samples with EZD?

Those words mean to me you want take the Addictive Drums 2 samples from Vintage Dry and use them in the EZD interface.

The only answer to that is no.

And drum replacement may or may not mean you can do that. Drum replacement works from an audio track (and maybe not just VSTi output, we'll have to see) and in that drum replacement program you typically have samples that are dedicated to that DR program. One replacement program that I use (Drumagog) allows you to load a drum module and then use those samples.

Almost all drum programs have proprietary sample formats that do not lend themselves to use in another program.

Drumagog was just "smarter" in that it actually creates a VSTi fx out of the desired drum program (EZD, Superior, BFD etc) and triggers that VSTi for the signal on the track.

In case you are not familiar with drum replacement concepts, do not expect (without some heavy lifting) to take a song or a stereo drum mix and get a replacement from that. DR works on transients (not sounds) and therefore you would apply a DR program individually to the audio track of a kick, snare and toms separately.

Ah! Okay. Being .wav files, I thought they were just... you know... .wav files. But a quick check with WMP proves you right; they aren't. Thanks for filling me in on this.

Okay. I thought they might work on MIDI notes. Thanks.

I use both EZDrummer and EZKeys to build my songs...then I swap them for
whatever drums and keys sound best....do it all the time...works great.

Could you elaborate on the EZD swapping, please? I'm at about the level with Sonar where I can swap one EZD kit for another, but going outside to (for instance) the AD2 Vintage Dry kit makes my brain hurt.

After I send you the map...you'll be able to build the midi in EZD2 and then copy the midi to another track were AD2 will be waiting.
