Using Amplitube 3 and real amp with SONAR / Octa-Capture

I got a question:

I want to record the sound of my amp with a mic, but put some Amplitube Stomp FX  before it and some Amplitube rack Effects after it. So how can I best set this up?

I was thinking, having my guitar in the Hi-Z channel 1 of the Octa-Capture, put Amplitube on the track in Sonar.
Send the signal to output 3 of the Octacapture and feed the signal to my amp, and then recording the signal with a mic.
And have this mic to channel 2 of the Octa-Capture. And apply any extra effects on this track.

Anyone ever tried a signal path like this?
