Using Echo Layla 24/96 and Audiofire 12 as input/output devices at same time.

Hey,

I have an Echo Audiofire 12 and a Layla 24/96 as audio devices on my computer. Both got drivers installed and works great when the other is turned off. The problem starts here. Sonar X2 does not let me to select both devices as output and input on the Preferences window. If a check one of them, automatically the other turns grey. So I can´t simultaneously use them. I´m using Sonar X2 x64. Can someone help me?

thanks

You can only use one interface at a time in ASIO mode so you can try one of the other driver modes available in Sonar. Not sure how well those devices will react to that. I know the Layla prefers ASIO (I own one) but it might work.

Another option is if the Audiofire has an ADAT/Optical input you could daisy chain the devices into a sort of Master/Slave set up. The Layla has two ports on the back that are labeled ADAT In and ADAT Out. You would connect an optical cable up to the ADAT Out then hook that to the Audiofire's ADAT In. If the Audiofire has both ADAT in and out you could reverse the chain (and use the Layla as the Master).

I have never done this so I'm not sure if it's simply a matter of hooking them up or if there is more that needs to be done but I think you can just choose ADAT 1,2,3, etc from your track input list and you'll get a signal. With my Focusrite the ADAT in gives me 4 extra channels at a max samplerate of 88.2khz or 8 extra channels at a max samplerate of 44.1khz.

    Cheers.

I just realized you may have a different Layla than I do. I have the 3G so I'm not sure if yours has the optical i/o.
