Using HGFortune Drum Burst X-824

I want to trigger it to start playing a pattern in the middle of a song and then change patterns during the song.  You know, like an old school drum machine.  Anyone know how to do this with Sonar X3 Studio?  Sometimes I think all this new fangled technology makes things way more difficult than it should be!  Sorry if this is a super easy solution and I'm just being lame..
