Using Izotope RX 6 in Sonar Platinum
I've successfully set up RX 6 as an external audio editor in the Utilities menu. I can set up RX Monitor and Connect, but I can't seem to properly transfer audio between RX 6 and Sonar. Anyone have any suggestions, or can direct me to any videos where I can learn how to do this properly? Thanks.

Hi JSchneyer, Here's how I do it: Right click the clip I'd like to edit Choose "Process Effect", then RX Connect Select either "Repair" or "Reference", and click OK The clip is then transferred to RX where I make my edits To get it back in Sonar: Click "Send Back" in RX - RX will tell you it's waiting for RX Connect In Sonar, again right click the clip and choose "Process Effect" and RX Connect - the clip will appear inside the RX Connect box Choose OK Hope that helps Dean

Or try this. this working in my case: Mark clip or section in audioclip. Right click: process effect -> audio effects -> RX6 Connect In dialog from RX connect click "OK" do your work in RX 6 editor In RX6 editor: "send back" return to SONAR ---> In Sonar: Right click: process effect -> audio effects -> RX6 Connect In dialog from RX connect click "OK" Ready !! Note: Don't click "repair". That has never worked for me. And since RX6 the clip is split if you edit a section of the clip. iZotope RX within the Utilieties menu has never worked for me.

Thanks for the input, guys. I'll give it a try. However, I think Lance misunderstood my inquiry as I had already successfully set up RX6 as an external editor, using the same information he provided.

I set up RX6 in the utilities menu per Lance's instructions and it works great (thanks Lance!). I've tried using the RX Connect, and it also works, but it seems like a LOT of extra steps compared to simply selecting a clip and then sending it to RX via the utilities menu. Am I missing some cool advantage to using RX Connect? (I hope this isn't considered hijacking... it seems pertinent, I think).

Actually, instead of trying to (not) hijack the thread, I suppose I could've tried to be helpful to the OP... JSchneyer- Since it is listed in your Utilities menu, it should work. Have you tried selecting the clip you want to edit & then selecting RX6 from the Utilities menu? When you do that, it should launch RX6 & load the clip. Perform your edits & then choose "overwrite original file" from RX6's file menu. Then return to Sonar & it should ask you if you want to reload the file. Say yes. (On my system, if I stay in RX6 too long, Sonar may appear to forget the clip & not ask if you want to reload it. My workaround is to do a few quick edits, reload to Sonar & then return to RX6 for more as needed).

Hi Greg, I don't know of any particular advantage to using RX Connect, just different ways of skinning the same cat I think. Dean

I use RX6 a lot, always going through the whole routine wih RX Connect. It usually works fine, although very lately I've found that it sometimes (not always) creates a second track lane with the modified audio instead of substituting the audio I selected with the new audio. When I do the registry edit as described in the knowledge base, RX 6 shows up in the Utilities menu, but it doesn't work. That is, I select a clip, then select RX6 from Utilities. SONAR then tells me it is copying a file. When that finishes, I get the message "Could not create process". RX 6 opens, but there is no wave in the window, just a flat line. Has anyone solved this?

So no one else has had the "Cannot create process" message?

I do not have RX6 but when launching a program from the utilities menu throws a "Cannot create process" message often times it is a permissions issue. For example, if the program being launched wants to run as administrator and SONAR is not running as administrator Windows will not allow the process to be created.

Thanks scook. I found a thread on the Internet that discusses that. Unfortunately, it didn't help. SONAR is set to run as administrator. Switching the administrator setting for RX 6 (and Sound Forge) back and forth didn't seem to help.
