Using Samson CO1U

So I really didn't want to have to post this here but I'm at a loss.

I've been going through the help pages and tutorials and cannot seem to get sound from my mic. I bought the Samson CO1U USB that came with Sonar LE. So I imagine seeing that they came together I should not have much grief using them together. I know it's not great sound quality but I knew that when I bought it. Just using for rough recording. I'm using this on a new Dell Laptop and I'm not sure what my kind my sound card is. I just got the laptop and vista is a pain.

So I'm guessing that I'm missing a step somewhere that's really easy cause I seem to have tried the rest. Also I'm not completely computer stupid. I use Reason with my keyboard with relative ease.

What driver mode are you using? You probably need to use MME.

Im having the same problem as you. I had The program on my Desktop PC and it was working perfectly, but i want to move it onto my Dell latptop that has windows vista. I get everything installed and the program cant see any drivers. The mic works because it can record with windows sound recorder. I have tried everything i know( my dad as well, and he's a tech guy at a computer company).

I dont know what to do to get it to see the drivers.

Ok so I contacted Cakewalk Technical Support. Or they contacted me I can't remember.
Here is what they told me:

    .........................................................................................................
That mic should work fine in MME mode. Go to Options | Audio |
Advanced and put a check where it says Always use MME Interface (or
change the Driver Mode to MME). Close the program and re-open it. The
Wave Profiler should run tests. You should now have more devices
listed under MIDI Devices and Audio Drivers.

You may not be able to monitor that Mic while recording unless you use
MME drivers, unfortunately MME creates a delay or latency. If you are
able to use WDM and still get a delay when using (Input Echo or Input
Monitoring), check out this link for more info on decreasing latency:

    http://www.cakewalk.com/tips/TechTipJuly02_1.asp

A third option would be using ASIO4ALL drivers. You can try out
ASIO4ALL from www.ASIO4ALL.com These drivers are a good solution for
generic or OEM sound cards that have unreliable WDM drivers and/or
nonexistent ASIO support. Once installed open SONAR and go to Options
    | Audio | Advanced and change the Driver mode to ASIO. You may need to
go to Options | MIDI Devices and shut down the Microsoft GS Wavetable
Synth in order for this to work. Try using the input echo button on
    your audio track.

    ....................................................................................................................

I'll try that out and then post how it went.

I use a c03u from time to time, BUT not with sonar LE (either sonar 7/8 or another program). but for me it only works in MME, and I expect that.

remember asio will only support ONE sound device and the mic doesn't come with a ASIO driver last time I bought it, would be pointless really in the sense of it's only a recording device and can't do playback.

MME is the easier option though, and switch back to asio (as for me and more, gives far better performance)

as for reason, well I run that and it's far more forgiving regarding sound cards in the sense of it supporting direct X.. BUT you'll get really lame latency if the card isn't up to par.. even with latency compensation some things use.. it's really a last option to get decent recordings mixed down (due to the DA converters in the cheapo/bog standard chips etc that are in these cards) . They are designed mainly for general purpose and no pro audio.
