Using Sonar X1 to record sounds from Fender Mustang 1 amp
Hi.
I have recently installed the Cakewalk Sonar X1 Studio on my pc and also using Zoom R24 as input interface. I was wondering if someone could help me on my way to record sounds from a Fender Mustang I amp via the usb-cable that followed with the amp?
Any help would be very much appriciated. Thanks for all inputs.

You need to install the Fender USB driver from the CD which came with your amp (or download the latest version from Fender's website).
Once installed, you should be able to select that input in Preferences, Audio.
You may only be able to select one of your interfaces at a time to record in SONAR.

..and to add, you wont get a recording to sound identical to your amp.. remember that you will not be recording the actual sound coloration caused by the power amplifier or speaker... simply the pre-amp and the tone controls.. so it will sound cleaner.. less impressive and less *guitar-y*.. you may wish to use one of the guitar amp simulators as an effect on your recording.

I own one of these Fender Mustang amps. Never thought you could record through the USB cable. I just read the documentation for it, and sure enough, it says I can do that!

I am fairly certain that you can have multiple interfaces active in Sonar, other threads have discussed that, the one that comes to mind was talking about setting the Record Latency settings per device.
So, it would seem to me that you would just pick the device for that audio input and be on your way.
PLEASE let me know if this works for you, as I would carve out some time to work with that.

Hi all.
Thanks Luteman, Mystic38 and robert_e_bone, for all feedbacks. Hm, well i downloaded Fender Universal ASIO driver and installed it on my pc. I connected Zoom R24 and Fender Mustang 1 to two of my usb ports of my laptop and started up Sonar X1 Studio. In the preferences, audio, I could only see that the Fender ASIO driver was active (could not use Zoom R24). I tried to see if could get some input, but no sound onto the track were I choosed the Fender something as input at audio track.
My first thought was, hm, maybe I should just use a condenser mike in front of the amp as well...
Does some of you have some ideas to figure this out etc. Thanks.

FWIW, I'd decide which unit you want to be your audio interface (Zoom or Mustang).
If it's the Zoom, I wouldn't fool with using the Mustang's USB port.
By definition, you can only use a single ASIO device (single audio interface) at a time.
Switching back and forth (constantly) can be a pain...
If the Mustang has a line out, you can use that to record direct into the Zoom.

As Jim stated, with ASIO you can assign only one device. I think ZOOMs drivers are WDM...maybe?? If you use WDM instead of ASIO you should be able to use both devices. The Mustang in input only so the one limitation for it as an interface is there is no ASIO output selectable. My best bet on what you want to do is try using WDM and then see if both the Mustang input and the ZOOM output are available to you. They won't in ASIO.

Given you lose the Fender sound when connecting your amp via USB, with a decent interface like the Zoom 24 i would plug your guitar into it (the zoom) for recording, then place the guitar modelling amp sim as an insert effect

The other option you have is to connect the Mustang's phones/line out into your Zoom. According to the Mustang manual, this doubles as a stereo recording output, with the amp/speaker modelling applied.
