Using Tascam 1800 with Sonar

Why can't I remove the echo while trying to record to existing tracks. Has anybody ever used the Tascam 1800 with Sonar?
Thanks Steve

    Yes, all the time.
    Which echo do you mean?
And how to you mean, recording existing tracks? You cannot record without a track existing.

The other tracks are already recorded, I need to add vocals to the existing band tracks. When I enable monitoring of the track I want to record there's an echo and when I turn on PDC it helps the latency but not enough.

    1. Are you getting an echo that dies out?
Unless you have a echo plugin somewhere, what must be happening is your vocals are coming out over monitor loudspeakers (or open headphones), going into your microphone, coming out the speakers, into the mic...

Use closed headphones and turn off monitor loudspeakers.

    2. Are you getting your direct sound followed by one single delayed version of the sound?
You are mixing the direct sound from the 1800 with the sound that comes out from Sonar. For vocals, only use the direct sound from the 1800.

Latency can be reduced but there will always be some latency present. That is why its best to use the direct sound from the 1800.

This is not really a problem - in the sense of a bug report - and more a user issue.
You may like to re-post this in the Sonar forum where more people will see this and come with more suggestions.
