Using cakewalk plugins

Is there an advantage to using cakewalk plugins vs. waves with sonar?

Of course! For example, Session Drummer sounds great out of the box, but you can't get any sound from Waves' drum plugins.
The fools' day is over.
It really depends on particular plugins used. As a rule of thumb, Waves' plugins are designed with a special application in mind, whereas Cakewalks plugins are more general purpose.

The Cake plugins being nicely integrated within Sonar (no 3rd party install needed), it's already ready for you. Functionality wise, each tool will have it's plusses & minuses......just use what sounds best to your ears.

Cakewalk plugins won't stop working when you disable (or replace) your network card.
