Using hardware EQ / USB Audio interface, Wiring ?

Hi i borrowed a Behringer Tube Ultra Q T1951, hardware EQ, from someone i know

Well i have never used hardware before

Now i will use sonar and re track audio....  through this hardware EQ.

Using my line's  L / R out, on the Audio Interface (Steinberg Ci1 ), and in to the
Hardware EQ input's 1 as ( left ) and 2 as ( right )

EDIT :  first problem i encountered was, a to hot signal with the XLR's cables, from the EQ
and in to the Audio interface ( signal was distorted )

so i switched to  Jack cables ( mono cables ) ,the audio is still hot, but i can raise the
input gain on my Audio Interface now, without any distortion so recording will be ok.

Problem now, is that i cant monitor the signal from the EQ
just the ordinary signal that is going to the headphones out of my Audio Interface
and to my stereo amp. ( monitoring )

How is a setup like this done , using a Patchbay  ? / split of the outputs from the Hardware EQ ?
1 set into the Audio interface, and 1 set to my Monitoring ?

Tips welcome...

Jan

A patchbay won't help unless it splits the signal,  that is what you need- a signal splitter.  I use a preamp w/ /4 inch and xlr outs.

ok thanks, another thing i wonder about is why do the XLR connections have a higher Output
if i use XLR from the hardware EQ to my inputs on the Audio Interface , it will distort ?
the signal is way to hot.

According to the Behringer manual, "use the input control to adjust to total level".  And, the max output level is +20dbm for balanced or unbalanced.   But, the only level control I saw referenced in the manual was the input level control.

If its too hot, you could insert a pad or a D.I. box that has a pad between the output and the input to your audio interface unit.

    Buy'd 2x ( 1x Male /4 inch to 2x Female /4 inch ) splitter's today for the output's on the EQ.

Thanks it is all good now.

    Chain :

    -    Line out Audio interface to :
    1.  Behringer Tube Composer T1952
    2 . Behringer Tube Ultra Q T1951.
    3.  Input Audio Interface and input on monitoring

then a mono splitter on the Left channel EQ out, making 2x left out's
and a mono splitter on the right channel EQ out, making 2x right out's

1st set (L/R) EQ out, go to my Audio Interface L / R  in
2nd set (L/R) EQ out go to my " monitoring "

Viola..., now i hear what i do on the compressor and EQ ;-)

Even if the hardware is cheap, it make an amazing good sound compared to vst plugins
love the Valve sound, so open full low's and nice sweet high end's

    The valves makes the Magic

Wow this is a new world, for sure..

This way lay madness.  Just wait until you use some high end hardware - EQ and comps.
