Using internal soundcard on Windows 7

Hello,
I was using Sonar8.5 and X1 a few years ago when studying at university. Then switched to IT, haven't been using Sonar for some time, and now have a problem. I was using Tascam FW1884 with it, but recently I had to sell it, and now when tried to open Sonar and play some tracks there was obviously no sound. The Tascam unit is still appearing there as audio interface, and I can't change back to internal soundcard. Please advise how I can do that.

Thanks in advance.

Change the "driver mode" in Preferences. Typically internal sound chips use MME.

You may need to de-select the interface it is pointing to first, and then change the driver mode.

Just because I mean to ride this horse to death, I think it's really annoying and dumb how Sonar's main audio preferences are scattered across three screens like this. It's the only DAW I know of that doesn't have driver mode and selected driver in the same screen. It leads to confusion.

That is actually a good point.  Have you submitted it in Features and Ideas?

    Hi guys,

It was enough to uninstall FW1884 driver and Sonar had no choice but start using the internal soundcard.

Whole thing needs a redesign imho, but should not be top priority as it at least works reasonably well (controllers and drum maps being the exception, although in my view drump maps shouldn't be anywhere near it).

    Sonar Platinum(64 bit),Win 8.1(64 bit),Saffire Pro 40(Firewire),Mix Control = 3.6,Firewire=VIA,Dell Studio XPS 8100(Intel Core i7 CPU 2.93 Ghz/16 Gb),2 x 1TB SSD (Samsung EVO 850),GeForce GTX 460,Yamaha DGX-505 keyboard,Roland A-300PRO,Roland SPD-30 V2,FD-8,Triggera Krigg,Shure SM7B,Yamaha HS5.
