Using samples
Hi, Up till now Ive been using Instrument Drums & EZ drummer. Im now exploring the world of samples. What programme ( on HS7 ) could I use for : a) drum samples ( individual drums, not loops ) b) synth samples. ( so I can play them on my controller. ) Also, what file type ( Ive got some that are .tif?? ) As you can see Im floundering here. Thanks you, thank you. www.soundcloud.com/thegirlfolder

You can trigger SI Drums and EZ Drummer from your controller. While I have used the loops, my preferred method is to trigger the individual drums via a controller( either my PCR-M50 or DM6 drum kit) You will need to have Input Echo enabled to hear the drums (or any synth) as you play live. Do you have a proper interface? If you are using the stock sound card, you will most likely experience a very annoying delay(latency). For low latency performance when playing synths(including drum samplers), a decent interface is essential. On a side note, .tif files are visual, often animated, and have nothing to do with sound. I suspect you will have more questions. Please ask, and we will help as much as we can.

Thanks for the reply Robert. I have a UX1 interface. The issue Im having is getting the samples into anything! When I opend EZdrummer and tried to load a bank, it says files not recognised ( they were .aiff ) Is this format OK? Matthew

I don't know much about loading samples in synths or even if it can be done with your example of EZD, but I think you have Cakewalk's sampler/sample player, DropZone. You can load an audio clip in it and play it back with a controller. And, like Bob wrote, you can play any of the synths with your controller.

57Gregy Session Drummer 2 was included with SONAR Home Studio 6, but I'm not sure about 7... Cool. Well if the OP, matt mobster, wants to use drum samples it's the same deal, simply drag a sample to a kit piece. Personally I'd advise loading and using a pre-existing kit to get used to sequencing with samples as opposed to loops and then work from there to creating your own kits over time. Programming multi-velocity kits in Session Drummer is a bit of a pain.
