Usinig Guitar Rig with Sonar X1

Hello All,

I just picked up GR5 with X1 Expanded, was able to install and get it running in Sonar, but when trying to record some tracks, I notice that I will need to turn on the Echo button to hear the processed sound with the dry signal. My question to anyone is, is there a way to adjust it, so that I ONLY hear the processed sound? using the Echo feature works good, but it still lets a little bit of the dry signal bleed through.

Your feedback is greatly appreciated

If you hear anything with Input Echo (a.k.a. input monitoring) disabled, then you must have direct monitoring enabled on your interface (either by a hardware switch or in the interface's software mixer). Get that turned off, enable Input Echo, and then any dry signal that gets through is due to Wet/Dry mix settings in GR.

    Su1c0c1dE,
Did you have any trouble getting GR5?  I tried upgrading last week from the 4LE that came with Sonar X1 and still have not received serial numbers to activate, nor replies to emails -- wondering if that's typical for Native Instruments.

    Brundlefly has it...
You're monitoring via hardware and software.
If you want to play/monitor thru software based EFX/processing, you need to turn off the hardware monitoring.  Hardware monitoring can't be used for this purpose... as the signal you hear is pre EFX/processing.  To provide near zero latency monitoring, the audio interface takes the signal at it's input (guitar in this case)... and routes it straight to the output.

    Hey Morgan,

I didn't.. What I did though was go to the NI site to check out GR5, then when I tried purchasing it, it recommended me to login; if I was registered, to see if I could get a better price.  since I was already a GR3/4 user, it said that I could get the upgrade at 99.00--full version was 199.00...

I would go that route if I were you...

    Hope that helps...

    Hey Morgan,

Try going to the NI site; did you ever register when you had GR3 or 4? if so, go ahead and log into the site, then try to purchase GR5. NI will check that and should give you a discount for the upgrade--I was able to upgrade for 99.00...

In the audio driver box click share drivers, then get out of Sonar.  Fire up GR and then fire up Sonar, this allows you to use GR as a standalone program but still record your input, you will be able to hear effects but they wont be recorded and the latency should be good enough so you wont feel it.  It also depends what interface you are using I am using a Motu Ultralite in USB mode.  I hope all that makes sence, if not just ask. Oh and this is how I do it.

    Peace Ben
