As of today, I'm a proud owner of the VS-20. Thanks to your video, the installation went off without a hitch! I bought it because I wanted a new interface. I read up on the VS-20 and decided it was for me. Plus the added bonus of having a nice little DAW controller for X2. Like I said, everything worked like a charm. First: the stand alone test - guitar and mike. Perfect! After that, put it through the paces on X2. Then I encountered a problem: after jamming through different sound banks in TH2 and Guitar Rig (worked like a dream), I wanted to test my mike. So, I switched over to Mic 2, turned the phantom power and ... NO sound! Switched back to guitar, got a signal. Turned on the stereo mike (Mic 1), got a signal. Went back to Mic 2 - dead! Then, I closed Sonar and tried the 20 as a stand alone. It worked, perfectly. No problems with Mic 2. After I had it working, I restarted Sonar and - bam - all of a sudden, I had a microphone!!! Sang a phrase, switched to guitar and laid down a riff. Did that a couple of times without a hitch. So, I shut down and went home. Always leave on a positive note, right? Just hope things work as well, when I fire up again, tomorrow ;) You ever heard of any issues like that? Or, was I not doing something right? Like I said, I'm a noob, so maybe out left out a procedure. Thanks in advance, for any insights!

im so glad the video was of help. congrats on the new interface man, your going to love it. by the way you can assign the knobs(that your not using)in x2. i usually go to my master fader,rightclick/choose learn remote control. it automatically learns the master, i do this because im not using guitar tracks with mine,so the MIDI BACKING knob is useless,so why not use it for something right? well fullbug,im very happy for you man :) if you have any more questions, dont hesitate to ask. (with the phantom power:) plug in your mic before you open sonar. once in sonar press COSM button on the vs 20.=this opens up the interface controls. got to settings./choose your mic in there instead.then while your there/turn on phantom power. best, Charlie Roy

yes installing the driver before using it is a wise decision, yes.

HI can anyone help Im trying to download the windows 8 version of SONAR but it doesnt download fully and there fore doesnt work! Unacceptable really because on the Roland site we are informed that windows 8 driver does support SONAR so it leads people to buy the product.... Basically a scam?! And the support is absolutely rubbish I have contacted Cakewalk and ROLAND and neither have replied at all! Anyone got any advice?
