V Vocal won't open
Hello All, I upgrade to Sonar Platinum. Windows 7 PC. V vocal still shows up in the region effect drop down menu. I can create the region but when I try to open the editor, I get a tap that says V Vocal Bass (that's the part I'm working on) but the screen is a white blank page. I tried restarting the program but that did not help. I like v vocal for quick volume fixes and would like it to work. The melodyne with platinum it great! Thanks, MB

Did you uninstall the previous version of SONAR? Because that might remove V-Vocal from your system. V-Vocal is not included in either X3 or Platinum.

No, I phoned the help line and ask them if I should remove it. They said no, so I left it. I'm assumimg that's why it is showing up in the drop down menu. thanks,

I had to do a custom reinstall of v vocal from the disc. It works fine now with Platinum

How did you do that? How did you find just v-vocal on the disc. Hopefully that will help. I like the quick volume adjust for specific bits of a track that I can do with V vocal (I've actually forgotten how to do it with out v-vocal). The time stretching was good too. I've just scratched the surface with v-vocal essential so would like to be able to use both right now. Thanks for your time. Michael

I checked every disc in custom install and can't find v-vocal in the drop down list. I thought that was how I got it. I apologize. It's been so long I can't remember but I've used v-vocal several times. I only have X-3 and Platinum installed. I just put a short vocal line down in Platinum and it works fine except way too much distortion which I'll have to check later. Sorry Michael

V Vocal requires the basic (only) installation of a version of SONAR that it was bundled with. The actual SONAR install.

It requires the actual SONAR program (basic install). I forget the exact versions it came with though.

V-Vocal was available starting with SONAR 5 Producer through X2 Producer. V-Vocal is installed with the SONAR program itself. Run an advanced install, select the first check box in the custom pick list to install the SONAR program files. When running from disk, start with the first install disk.

If I remember right you were the one that helped me get it back because I had uninstalled the older versions of Sonar. E-3 it was. I checked and I have x-2 but only the uninstall exe file. I now have X-3 and Platinum. I can use v-vocal in X-3 but I didn't check Platinum

V-Vocal can still be a bit flakey at times. Your best bet is to open a new (blank) project, drag/copy your track to the new project and do your V-Vocal work there. Bounce the clip to itself and drag back to the real project. BUT......... you say you're using it for "quick volume fixes" I would never use VV just for that - track automation is IMHO a lot quicker and indeed a lot more precise than fiddling around in the VV window.

Now there's a good example of more things I need to learn. I have some tutorials that came with my last version of sonar that I should re watch.

I bought Sonar X1 producer on line. Are you guys suggesting that I try to re-install that version? (I did not remove it when I install Platinum) As I said in my first post, it is there in Platinum, I can created the effects region....the editing window opens but is blank.

It might take a reinstall, I don't know. From the initial post, it does seem that there is enough of V-Vocal installed that SONAR puts the plug-in in the Region FX menu. I did not use V-Vocal enough to say either way. Before doing anything, I would call tech support.
