V studio 100 with another control surface?

Hello.  Wondering if anyone could help me with this, or has any experience doing something similar.  I am very happy with my V studio 100 as an interface, and simple control surface.  However, I would like more faders (used to have an analog studio in the 80's and really like the hands on approach).  Is it possible to use something like the Behringer BCF2000 as the control surface and the V studio as the audio interface?  And if so, what would be the best set up.  I use Reaper, btw.  Thanks to any and all who take the time to reply....

Good question - and I too have no idea if it would work or not.

I've got the gear to test this out (an axiom with sliders and rotaries) so I'll see if I can run that side by side with the VS-100. Currently I'm using the Axiom to control the software synths, and the V-Studio controls the transport. It will be interesting to see if I can get the Axiom to control 8 tracks of faders & pans without losing the VS control.

I likely can't get to this for a day or two - but I'll report back once I test it out.
I'm really certain if it will work in that situation - it would work with any combination of control surfaces.

Don't fix it in the mix ... Fix it in the take!

Well - that was easy, LOL. Just had to open a project and try.

YES - it works just fine with the Axiom. When I set the Axiom WAI (Where Am I) for a bank of tracks the Axiom took control of that bank without any problem. If the VS-100 is set to one of those tracks - you can actually see the VS-100 slider move when you move the corresponding slider on the other control - very cool!

I would think this should work with any/all control surfaces, but it would likely be best if you could arrange an easy return of the item if something didn't work out as you hoped.

EDIT: If you are not familiar with WAI make sure you read the manual section that pertains to it. It took me a while to wrap my head around it and it is the lifeline of any control surface to Sonar (other than transport). It's simple enough, but something you really need to have a full grasp of.

BTW - Welcome to the forums, and if you do get a 2nd surface, make sure you come back and let us know how things work out. Just don't be too upset with me if it's a failure - LOL!

Hi, thanks for the welcome and the research and information.  Sounds like it should work, and I will read the WIA section
