V100 Installation with Sonar X2

Hi,

I am pretty new to this software and have a new version of X2 and V100 that have never been connected. This is running on Windows 7 and I installed the new firmware version on the V100 as well as the drivers for Windows 7. Sonar is chosen in the V100 as the source.

I can't seem to get anything to play back on Sonar X2. I added a bus to route all sound to V100 1,2, still nothing. I checked the Sonar recognizes the drivers, and yes, seems all to show the correct path.

Also, V100 plays as a soundcard through other sources, such as windows media player.

I've heard from (and read many sources) that this configuration works very well so it must be something on my part :)

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Jenny

Hello jennyann, Welcome! Have a piece of Cake :-) i'm on X1, but it should still be the same... Is the v100's 'stop' button on the transport lighting up orange? If not, click "P" on the keyboard to enter Preferences and then go to Control Surfaces and make sure that "VS100" is showing in the Controller/Surface column and also in the In Port and Out Port columns. There's a drop down menu for the In and Out Ports, select "CONTROL (VS-100)" for both if not there already. You may have to restart your computer afterwards to make it stick. The transport's stop button should be orange. HTH.

I'm currently waiting for my copy of X2 to arrive.

As a fellow VS100 user, can you confirm that all is working ok (if you have solved your issue of connecting it?)

Hi, I had similar problem as jennyann.. and the same set up.
Had sound but no control from the VS100 hardware.
    I tried the solution posted by M  B .

The Controller Surfaces box was empty in X2 so I had to "Add new Controller/Surfaces" using the 'yellow star' button in the Preferences window then select VS100 to populate the field before being able to set the in & out ports.

Just wanted to say that it worked and I'm off and running again.

    Many thanks for the advice
PS I hope jennyann had same result.

Hello gibbojohn, glad to hear that the info info was helpful to you. You're right about the yellow star to add new Contr/Surf if you don't see your controller in the C/S dropdown menu. I didn't mention that. Never knew if the OP got sorted or not. She never posted back after a first post mayday call...

I have a presonus Faderport that used to work with Sonar 8.5 but suddenly stopped.  With X2 I just can't get it to work - every time I connect it crashes Sonar and often kills the audio connections as well.  Tried all the regsvr fixes etc but resigned it to a paper weight.

So I'm looking for a relatively small - and easy to set up - controller that will give me the fader and transport controls running under X2.  I don't need the recording, or the audio but I guess that's a bonus and will allow me to retire my old Cakewalk 650 audio unit.

So, for those who use this hardware - are the thoughts good?

    Hi all,

I know it's been a while but I'm back to getting this up and running. I'm still having trouble with sound out. The control surface lights up and interacts when I'm playing the demo files (orange stop and green go) but still no sound coming out. Any ideas? I tried making sure the midi's were unclicked and control surface was clicked.

I'm in ASIO mode but also toggled between the other options and this didn't help.

That's great that you have the control surface settings sorted out.

Have you tried plugging in some headphones and checking if sound is playing there?

It may just be a routing problem. Check and see if your master bus has its output set to the same outputs where your speakers are plugged in the back of the VS-100. Also that the playback dial is turned up too.

I'm not sure if any of that will help but it may be a place to start.
