V12 Hi-hat won't close in Sonar home or Professional

Hello there,

I'm running TD 20 into Sonar. Sonar dosen't recognize the hi-hat when it is closed. All I get is open hat. Tried adjusting settings in Hi-Hat MIDI settings on the module to no avail. The Hi-hat is either open or closed.

Any suggestions?

This is probably related to a poly/mono setting in your TD 20.

Give us a little more routing/settings (TD 20) details to help you more in detail with this.

I have had to “retrain” my foot pedal every once in a while. I use a TrapKat. Also, are you using CC1 or CC4 to control the hi hat or individually set samples (i.e. open, 3/4 closed etc.)? You can use something like MidiOx to look at the data coming from your Ekit.I would first determine if the Td kit is sending what you think it should be or not. You really have to determine if it is the TD kit or Sonar.

Thanks for your replies. FYI I'm not a tech guy so plain english would be best for me.

Kingsmix, Where would I find poly/mono setting in your TD 20? What do you mean by routing/setting details? I've programed the MIDI output setting individually to seperate each drum i.e snare is Tx channel 1, kik tx channel 2 etc...

scottfa, what do you mean by VI?

Since I'm here.... VI is virtual instrument.

Just a shot in the dark but in the Sonar console, check the Gain setting for the hi-hat track.

The VST drums you use will make a differance as some use none GM midi assignments. That is why he asked.
And that is why MIDI ox is a good tool as it will tell you what Sonar and thw VST your using is seeing.
