V-20 Startup Issue - Windows 7

Hi, i am having startup issues with the v-20. I use a windows 7 64 bit ultimate edition and after 2 days, the driver doesn't load on start and the v-20 ist not recognized.  I have tried starting without USB and after windows is running, then reconnecting the usb, but I still can't get the hardware recognized. I change USB ports, then every now and then, the driver will load, most of the times however not.  I have installed and de-installed 3 times, always the same effect. It is getting frustrating, spending 1 to 2 hours starting the pc numerous times, until finally the v-20 is useable.

Any new ideas on what I could do to fix the issue?

Appreciate any help I could get, the V-20 is exactly what I have been looking for and I would hate give it up due to driver issues.

    Hi there,

First, are you using the Windows 7 64-bit driver? The app itself is 32-bit and runs fine in compatibility mode on 64-bit machines. I have Win 7 64-bit professional and it works. Let us know about the driver and we'll go from there.

Hi, yes I am using the 64 bit driver, I have used the one from the original cd and the one from the website, even though both are the same version.

    Hi Steve,

Thanks for confirming. It sounded like you knew what you were doing however we always need to check. Are you using the USB cable that came with the VS-20? Sometimes (and even we are baffled by this) if you don't use the included USB cable it can cause connection problems.

If you are using the included cable I encourage you to contact our support team here so that we can work with you either on the phone or by email to help resolve the issue.

    Hi Samara,

the problem is solved.  I had checked the original USB Cable by connecting the cable to a different usb hardware and it worked fine.  So I kept using the same cable for the VS-20.  Today I used a different cable, looks the same, no difference in appearance, and the other cable is now giving me a perfect connection and startup.  I then reconnected the original cable and the same problems started again. Again changing cables solved the issue. What is funny, is that the original cable works fine with 3 other products which I have, it just doesn't seem to want to work with the VS-20.

Anyhow, the issue seems to have disappeared, and I am glad.  The VS-20 is a wonderful piece of hardware and I am really enjoying how it functions.

Appreciate everyone taking out the time to assist me.

    Regards, Steve

@chuckebaby - how is the V-20 working out for you with Sonar X1?  I'm leaning toward getting one, because it has guitar effects, and you can do re-amping, it's got a single mic input (I don't need any more at this time), it's got MIDI, and it's a control surface.

How is the guitar => bass effect?  I'm hoping I can get by without buying a bass.

    Thanks
