VR Music Video "Constellations 360"

Hey Everyone,

My new VR Music Video "Constellations 360" is now out and has been doing really well online so far, racking up over 6000 plays in a couple weeks. Thought I'd share it. You can pick one of a bunch of sites including Youtube, Vimeo, and others to watch it on from my blog:

http://www.bydavidrosen.com/2017/03/09/constellations-360/

In VR with a Cardboard or other headset is best, but it also works in 360 on mobile or a PC.

Enjoy, and I'd love to hear what you think of the video and/or song.

David

    Nice accompanying tune David.

I don't have a VR headset and didn't have much joy in watching it on my PC so I just listened. I think I messed it up by trying to spin it around and then got lost...

Thanks for checking it out! And yeah, on a desktop 360 videos can get a bit messy haha. Definitely better to view either in VR or on a mobile phone for the best experience with the video itself. Glad you liked the track :-)

Wow I wish I had a headset to watch that, it looks awesome. Reminded me a little of Floating Point's "Silhouettes" video, although the two are quite different. Love the song too, awesome production - what an AMAZING snare sound!

I was skeptical from the intro, but I'm glad I continued to listen.  the guitar, piano and drums are really well done here!

I watched the video, but I don't have a VR unit, so it didn't mean so much to me from that perspective.  but I love the music!  very well done!

The music is excellent and the match with the video was good although I am only watching it on a PC.  Gave it a thumbs-up on YouTube!

Thanks so much sharke. It's actually makes me really really happy that you mentioned that snare... The whole point of this song when I started it was... "I want to make a track around a big huge snare." Haha. Got me to mess around with parallel processing and all that to get it right (especially in the 2nd half when I bring all the other instruments in and I wanted it to continue to be the lead).

And thanks everyone else who checked it out. Glad you guys are digging it :-)

I probably don't have the right headphones. Sounded muddy to me. Nevertheless, that's on my end. The arrangement has a cool kind of tension that fits the very nifty 360 video. Really cool work! I liked it.

Thanks for checking it out Dean! It's definitely a very bass-heavy dark track, so it's possible it came across a little muddy, but I think overall the mix has been sounding good in most of the settings I've tried it in, and now that it's out, it is what it is :-) I'm constantly trying to improve my mixing though

That's what I'm doing at the moment with my 2016 collection-going back and seeing what I can do to improve. Putting a piece together takes some time, and after a while ones ears just had enough of the same thing. So, going back has the advantage of a fresh approach. Also allows one time to absorb the work as a near completed project and perhaps make some additional/better recordings. Personally, I think music has a life of its own and can evolve with no end in sight. Hence, I guess a project is never over until one becomes bored and disinterested in going further.
    Stay well!
    Dean
