V-S 100 Capabilities?

Hi all!

Right now I'm using a Firepod along with Sonar 8.5.  Planning to upgrade to X1/X2 sometime in the near future, but I'm also looking to move my studio up from the basement to a more "acoustically sound" room.  The problem this presents is that it will no longer be near the practice space.  While I'll be fine to individually track upstairs, there's not enough room to track everyone up there.

Enter the V-Studio 100...I hope.  I need to be able to track, simultaneously, five audio tracks and one MIDI track.  I'd be fine doing two XLRs, two 1/4"s, and can even do a 1/4" to RCA converter for the last one.  And obviously the MIDI is the MIDI.

So, is this possible?  This would make things a lot easier for me, and wouldn't require me to purchase another recording setup.  The added bonus is that I could use the VS-100 as my normal interface or as a controller for Sonar.

Any advice would be most welcome!

Thanks a lot!

Hello Yes, the vs100 can handle 5 audio and a midi in, you just need to set your channel routing in Sonar. It's only got two pre's, so you'll probly need some externals.

I should probably clarify.  Is it capable of recording 5 audio tracks and one MIDI in it's standalone capacity, not hooked up to a computer.  Ideally, I'd like to record to the VS-100's SD card, then take that to the studio and export the tracks into Sonar.  This would only be for guide tracks, all indivdual tracking would be done within the studio itself.

    Thanks!

As a stand alone the vs100 is a stereo recorder, so you'd have no separation of instruments to import as individual tracks into sonar. If you used the 100 with a laptop you could do what you want.

Yeah, that's kinda what I thought from reading the description, but I was hoping I was wrong.  Alright, think that eliminates the VS-100 from my choices, then.  Thanks so much for the info!
