VS100 working as audio interface but not controlling X1

Finally got a VS100 and installed it last night. Audio seems to be working fine but I can not seem to get the controller part working. In the controller section of prefs Sonar sees the Vs100 and I have everything turned on etc. I am sure I am missing something incredibly stupid but have not had luck figuring out what that is.

    Have you tried Edit>Preferences>Control Surfaces>Connected Controllers then check In Port and Out Port?
     
    Works for me.
     
    X1 doesn't seem to like you powering the VS100 after it's running.  If you go [Boot Windows>Power up VS100>launch X1] it remembers its settings in projects.  I think. ??
     
    VS100 is great, but it just comes in a box!

    When you say controller.....which part exactly?

    And yes.......switch on VS then boot PC.
