VS-20: Bad soundcard = bad recording? :/

Heyho,

very simple and very dump question (pls sont flame... i know im an idiot and yes i used the search function , but the question might be as simple so nobody asked it yet)

I recently bought a VS-20 and its working great as an Guitar / Bass amp, BUT as soon as i record something the sound quality drops and the clear sound of the direct monitoring is gone... does that mean my soundcard sucks.

...or much more: Does the quality of the VS-20's record depends on your soundcard?

If so, can anyone suggest a soundcard that would give me a nice and clean sound.

(Based on my own research i would buy a http://www.amazon.de/Crea...1300031010&sr=8-1)

Thanks,
Philipp

Hi there Philipp, welcome to the forum.

First off, there are no dumb questions - we all had to start somewhere

I'm not certain that the problems you're experiencing are due to your computer's soundcard, but I'd suggest you assign your VS-20 as your audio interface and see if that improves matters.

Are you using the version of Guitar Tracks 4 that came bundled with your VS-20?

now i dont have the vs 20 im planing on gettin it in a week or two..so i would like some ffedback here..strummer is a good guy and knows his stuff very well so hopefully he posts again, but for right now.go into your preference menu..under drivers you should see a little tab to switch your driver mode.not sure what vs20 uses but im imagining its asio.so set it for asio.then in that same sub menu(audio)click on the asio tab..it brings up the asio panel(a small box with a few settings)..what your looking for here is something to adjust(a slider if you will)..it may even say latency, though i doubt because asio doesnt.try moving this slider and run some test..it may not be the slider..it could be this too  #2 under driver or outputs..look for a tab thats uncheckd that may say something like..inouts...outputs.im really guessing here but im trying to give you something to work on..try a few settings..remember them so you can get back to them if all else fails...hope this helped..

not to give to much here but...could be input echo button on the track view..or even your routing..make sure your vs knob for input monitoring is correct too

    Here you go Philipp.

First make certain your VS-20 is switched on and connected to your computer with the USB lead.

Now open up GT4 and select Option > Audio from the menu bar, then click on the General tab.

Click on the Launch Audio Profile button:

GT4 will then scan your system to see which audio devices it can use.

Next, click on the Driver Mode drop-down arrow and select ASIO from the list.

Finally, make sure the VS-20 is listed in both the Playback Device and Recording Device fields - if not, click on the drop-down arrows and select it for both.

Now you should be good to go Philipp.
