Hi there Magnus, and welcome to the forum.
OK, let's get you up and running! Just work through the steps below.
I don't have Guitar Tracks Pro 4 so I've used screenshots from Cakewalk's SONAR 8.5, but the layout should be quite similar.
First off, make certain your VS-20 is attached to your computer using the USB lead. Then open GTPro4.
On the menu bar in GTPro4 select
Options > Controllers/Surfaces:
This will open the Controllers/Surfaces interface. Click on the
Add New Controller/Surface button, as I've outlined here:
This will open the
Controller/Surfaces Settings menu. Click on the
Controller/Surface drop-down list:
From the list of options that appear, click on
VS-20 and then
OK:
You should now see the VS-20 in the
Controllers/Surfaces window.
Now click on both the
In Port and
Out Port drop-down lists and in each case, select VS-20 DAW Control from the options:
Now you should find that the VS-20 faders, buttons and transport controls will start controlling the corresponding features in GTPro4.
To use the COSM BOSS effects inside GTP4, you may have to follow these steps.
Click on the
COSM button on the VS-20, this should now open the Editor window.
You may get this message:
If you do, click
OK and then check to see if the effects are working with your guitar. If they are, then you are good to go.
If the effects are not working, or are not even visible, you will need to reassign your VS-20 to
VS-20 Effect Control.
To do this, click on the
Setup button on the VS-20 menu bar, then select
Set Up MIDI Devices. Now click on both the
Input and
Output drop-down lists in turn and select
VS-20 Effect Control for both:
Hopefully, you should now be able to control GTPro4 with your VS-20, and use the COSM effects to record with, even if you have to swap between the two modes (
DAW Control &
Effect Control) to do so.
Get back to us if you have any problems Magnus.
