VS-700 Console Issue

Hi Guys and Gals

I have a strange problem with my console.
Sometimes (not all the time) when I press buttons on the console to select a track or arm a track, I get a response (sound) from all VST's loaded into the project. It briefly plays one note from all tracks at the same time, it can give someone quite a fright if the volume is up and they're not expecting it.
I'm guessing somehow the console is sending a MIDI command to trigger notes on the VST's but can't work out why this may happen.

I tend to use Simple Instrument tracks for each Instance of VST and use SampleTank 3 most of the time. I also tend to use a new instance of SampleTank for each Instrument rather than load SampleTank once and use different MIDI channels.
Either way I'm sure my console should not be triggering notes from my VST's.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Gary

VS-700 is sending MIDI (and only MIDI...) to control Sonar. Normally VS700 plug-in in Preferences/Control Surfaces should block all these messages. But from your observation, it looks that some are "leaking". Check that you do not have other plug-ins (like "ACT MIDI") in the preferences and you do not use "Remote control..." throw MIDI  (at least not with VS700). In the MIDI preferences, disable all MIDI inputs you do not use (VS-700 controlling MIDI input, assigned to the Control Surface, should be enabled).
Also check that "MIDI Out" is disabled for all iVSTs.

yeah. had this happen once, too.

it's definitely a MIDI routing issue. first, check that the VS-700 is hooked up as described in the manual (i.e. which MIDI ports to use, which ones to keep disabled, can't remember fro mthe top of my head, sorry).

Thanks for the advice, everything is set up as described in the manual.
I have disabled the MIDI OUT port, as I only use my external keyboard to play VSTi's and I do not have a cable connected to the MIDI OUT port of the VS-700 R, maybe this will help.

Go to edit and preferences, then go to control surface and Just make sure both in port and out port are set on Console (vs700) and also make sure there is no other controller setup there . if there is another control surface and you don't use it, remove it.
mine some times acting like this. and I see another midi in and out instead of Console. So I just change the ports to Console and problem goes away.
I hope it works for you.
