VS-700R in standalone?

Hi!

I'm searching options for my girlfriend to make her the ultimate keyboard/piano live/studio rig (I know it's subjective but it's not the point here).

She's a Roland user since her first keyboard (a JV-80) and we've found that Roland products is indeed what matches her need best.

1st: The piano task will be accomplished by a V-Piano (she's helpless with her piano sound and this one look awesome!)

2nd: The synth is a V-Synth GT (INCREDIBLE!)

3d: All orchestral parts would be covered by a Fantom synth and a Cakewalk A-800 Pro controller.

So I tought the VS-700R could handle that job instead of the Roland rack Fantom XR.  The VS cost more but gives and incredible audio interface and the possibility to add an ARX card, a collection that will continue to grow (we both hope the next release will be a strings expansion...!) and which is awesome instead of the stagnant SRX serie.

Money is not an real problem since each piece will be bought one at a time.

So the main point I need to know is can I use the VS-700R to easily mix it's inputs, edit Fantom patches and record to Sonar (LE probably) without the VS-700C?

With only a laptop?

Without any computer (standalone)?

With a MAC laptop?

Thanks!

PS. Don't hesitate to tell me if I'm not clear enough!

Yes you can. To use the Fantom synth you'll have to have a computer running since the interface is software based. There is no standalone version of the Fantom in the V700R that I know of so you'd need to run Sonar also. How workable it would all be from the keyboard station on stage I'm not sure. The A-800 Pro is basically the same as a PCR-800 and you can control parameters in the Fantom from its controls when it is the topmost window. It would certainly require some setup for stage routines. Don't know about the Mac angle but a big laptop should do it.
