VST Problem

Got new computer, new Sonar PE 8.5, exterior hard drive. I moved Superior Drummer files to the exterior drive. Installed Sonar on the new computer then moved SD to the new PC. Nothing worked after I moved it.

I then deleted SD and did a complete new install and authorized. I then did SD updates and installed them in VST folder.

When I scan for VST's in Sonar it does not load/recognize SD. I've tried installing both 32 and 64 bit versions of SD. 32 is the only one that will install.

I have rerun the  Superior Drummer update installer several times and also moved ( drag and drop ) the dll several times. Computer is Windows 7 32 bit. Any sugestions?

Be sure ALL the files and apps and plugs are ALL in 64 bit.

A new computer always needs to be set up ..... I just went through it... it ain't fun.  But it's simply a matter of telling Sonar where to look for SD and be sure they are all running the same bit rate.... 32 or 64.

This also applies to the OS bit rate.... it's all got to be the same. That's why I went with XP 32bit....all my software is 32 bit..... even so, I had a few issues and it took some time to get it resolved.

I bought the computer from Sweetwater already set up and optimized for audio recording. OS is Windows 7 32bit, Firepod is updated for Windows 7 32bit, Sonar is set on 32bit, Superior Drummer is installed at 32bit. Superior Drummer still won't load into Sonar. SD worked on my old PC.

Superior Drummer and EZplayer both load into SD Solo so the dll in the VST folder is good. Sonar won't recognize the dll on VST scan.

Hummmmmm....well... the next thing I'd consider is a tech support phone call...assuming they answer the phone...or in the appropriate forums..... or ask Beagle.... he knows everything.

Thanks for trying to help Guitarhacker. I did call Tech Support and they are  GREAT. Cakewalk has outstanding support.

Sonar was not recognizing SD as a VST Plugin. I didn't have that problem when I installeed SD on my old DAW, Sonar 6.

Went to Cakewalk Plug-in Manager, went to the VST Instruments category. After clicking the "Show Excluded" button, Superior Drummer appeared. Highlighted it, then hit the Enable Plug-in button. Rescaned and it's in.
