VST "Run in Sandbox" option. What is that again?

Noticed that the CbB SPLAT version has a "Run In Sandbox" option. What does that do?
I am finding that Sonar starts up very slowly, and a refreshed VST scan takes about 30 minutes. Any connection?
I notice some VSTs not being scanned / missing in projects.   Typical config issues that I hope to solve. Thanks in advance for the responses.

Make sure the Preference > File > VST Settings "Rescan Failed Plugins" and Rescan All Plugins" are not enabled.

Missing plug-ins are often not in the VST scan path. There is a new log option which may help with this.
