VST files

I am trying to upload Sonivox Playa virtual instrument into Sonar x1. yet when I scan VST in Sonar it cannot find the files. I looked in Playa standalone and all of the files seem to be svx. how do I load svx into Sonar? I really need help, as I am new and have no idea what I am doing. Or is there a way to recognize them as VST? When I bought Playa, they said that it was VST, but I cannot seem to find out how to recognize that. Please help!

I would save any presets you have for Playa and uninstall it, reboot, and reinstall it. Do the custom install, and that will let you put the VST where you want.

Then reboot and open X1 and hit 'P' for preferences and goto File-VST Settings and add the location of the Playa VST. Rescan. Then close and reload X1. Then insert it as a VST into an audio track. Select a midi track with the input to your midi pad controller and the output to the Playa. Be sure to have the midi set to Omni as well. Arm the tracks and record.

The easiest, least confusing way to corral your soft synths is to have their .dll files all in one VST Folder as a sub-folder in your Cakewalk master folder.  When you're installing a VST, it usually finds your One VST folder, and will ask if that's where you want the VST .dll file.

When you have a VST that doesn't have that as part of the installation dialogue, then you just watch where everything is installed, then move the .dll file yourself to your master VST folder. That way you don't have to keep adding to a list of scattered folders all over the place with your VSTs, -no need to add a new location to the plug-in manager.
