VST scanner not working

Happy Thanksgiving to all.

SONAR 7.0.1 has stopped scanning my VSTs. I've tried installing two new plugs into my regular VST folder and SONAR just isn't seeing them. Even worse, all the options to force a manual scan (plugin mgr., global options) are suddenly grayed out.

I haven't changed anything or done anything that might trip such an action, and everything else - including previously installed VSTs - are working fine.

Any ideas?

    Yep, they're both new demos - I'm more worried that I can't manually rescan than anything.
    Anything to do with VST scanning is grayed out, as I said. Puzzling.

    I am almost sure some other problems with your sonar installation.. I have never seen options dialog box grayed before

    sonar 6 did that to me at some point.

    try running this at the command line


    cd D:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Shared Utilities\

    PluginManager.exe /VSTInventoryRegKey "Software\Cakewalk Music Software\SONAR Producer\Cakewalk VST"


    maybe this isn't it but give it a try.

    Sorry to be such a noob - I'm new to SONAR coming from eXT - will I lose my projects if I do a uninstall and reinstall?
