V-Studio help

I have been searching and searching for answers. I finally figured out how to select different tracks for different faders. Now I still need help on the following:

- T-bar xray - how does this work? I have multiple views open and I did ctrl+shift+xray and it does nothing.

- What happened to the step sequencer? I had it in my Sonar 7, and in this video

http://www.dailymotion.com/vids/14370240+14370564+11668852+11669697+11669927/video/x6y4e9_sonar-vstudio-700-for-modern-music

it shows it being used, but mine is grayed out and looks like it is not installed?

That's it for now.

Thanks,
Jeromy

X-Ray works for plugin instruments and effects, but not for SONAR edit views. On the VS-700 X-ray is performed by using the T-Bar with the button for X-Ray (below the T-Bar) selected and illuminated.

The Step Sequencer is there - you just need to make sure you have a MIDI track selected. Otherwise it is grayed out as you describe.

Thanks for the help so far. I have another problem now.

When I try to insert an ARX track I get this error: "ARX Mismatch Unable to load ARX contents dur to a version mismatch between the Editor and ARX boards. Please update these to the latest version in order to continue."

I already installed the VS-700R firmware and drivers. Is this something else?

    Jeromy,

Which ARX board did you buy? Make sure you have the latest 1.1 VS-700 driver and software installed as well.

    Hi Seth,

Maybe I'm confused, isn't there an ARX board in the I/O. Or is it only for expansion? I just assumed that it included one and you could purchase an additional one.

By the way, I really appreciate the prompt responses. With this new product it is great that cakewalk actually supports their customers.

My next question is how do I record with my beatscape? I have tried everything, looked up all the Youtube video how to's, the forums, etc. Everything just shows how to use it, but not how to record the session. I found another thread where a user has the same exact problem but everything that was suggested doesn't work for me or apparently the other user. Some clear instructions would be great. I can create a great beat, but there's no way to get it on a track to add to my project. It's really disappointing, because I love the beats I can make, but it is useless if I can't get it into my project.

The ARX slot is empty, so you have to buy your own cards.

But, it would be a great idea to include one card in the bundle to sweeten the deal !

    How about that Cakewalk ?

I love it! You can't beat everything that's included. I'm just working out all the kinks, or learning how to do what I want to do with it now. I've only had it 4 days now, but already I'm very happy with the results.

Record Beatscape by entering the MIDI notes in the MIDI track associated with Beatscape. You can do this by hand or by recording realtime MIDI events from a MIDI controller.

Also: some info on ARX baords: Robin's post

    and here from Roland.
