V-Vocal Creates Artifacts in X1??
I have had X1 for about 3 months and this is my first use of V-Vocal for pitch correction. I am using it on a male vocal and upon correcting one phrase, I can hear some soft but audible strange sounds on a latter phrase. Also, I am occasionally encountering clicks. If I remove the V-Vocal from the clip, the sound is back to normal. I encountered this to some extent in 8.5.3 but it seems worse in X1. Is anyone else experiencing this? Will a change of buffer size eliminate or reduce the click instances? Or do I need to go to Melodyne?

Try setting pitch follow to 0 (12 o'clock). This helps me.

V-vocal sucks, unfortunately. The artefacts are there even if you don't do any pitch correction on something. Not a lot you can do. I wish I could use it but am probably going to have to buy melodyne for anything serious. It just ain't up to standard.

I'm not sure I would go as far as matt and say it sucks (sorry Matt, nothing personal ), but it certainly creates artifacts. As soon as I create a v-vocal clip I can hear it, without adjusting anything. I still use it on occasion, but mostly as an effect, not for transparency. For that I use Melodyne.
Don't fix it in the mix ... Fix it in the take! Are you guys not tripping on having the same avatar? I've seen at least two others as well. Should we ALL change our avatars to the synth kitty?

Long time poster Bitflipper discovered that Vvocal doesn't handle headphone bleed well. So try turning down the cans when tracking so that you don't get as much music bleeding into the take. Let us know if that helps. T. bstrong I have had X1 for about 3 months and this is my first use of V-Vocal for pitch correction. Wow! I sure hope VV is getting an update, but the way I read the notice it was simply correcting some issues with it's integration, not it's operation.... I really hope I'm I'm wrong... I too hear the artifacts even when no correction is applied... but I also find that I can use it much of the time without too much resentment of these issues.. :-) Every once in a while get stuck with an artifact that I can't get around and can't live with... those are bad! I'm very surprised and disappointed at how many years this product has gone with only a single .5 update.... Roland! I'm ashamed of you! I thought they were touting their Variphase audio correction? Time for them to get on it and come up with a serious update... But with the state of affairs in Japan, this may be a long time comin'... Too bad as it's really pretty well integrated into Sonar... I really feel uncomfortable using the other two major contenders (Melodyne/Autotune) in comparison.... I used the demo version of Melodyne and tho it's amazing I was not comfortable with it's use.... autotune I haven't used in a while but I didn't like working with it when I did... Polyphonic editing as in Melodyne is astounding! Mor than simple vocal pitch correction... to fix a bad note in a guitar chord! I would love a VV that was artifact free and had this potential! So, bring it on! I would love to be rid of the artifacts for now! Keni
