V-Vocal in Sonar Platinum?

I noticed in the Vocal-Sync video that V-Vocal seemed to be missing on the Region Effects menu.  Can someone confirm if V-Vocal has been removed?  And if so, what happens to existing projects that have V-Vocal clips?

Thanks,
Terry

I believe that if you have it installed from a previous SOANR it will show up and work in existing projects. The vid was probably made from a clean new SONAR (only) install.

Not at my DAW right now, but someone will chime in before I get home to confirm.

I believe V-Vocal was dropped in Sonar X3.  If you do have X2 or earlier installed, then V-Vocal is available in SONAR Platinum and is available to both new and previously created projects.

It was indeed dropped in X3 but since I have X2 still installed on my system if I go to the RegionFX menu in X3 there (whoop) there it is. Seriously I'm in front of my DAW right now and double checked.

You may have to do a VST scan for it though once you install Platinum. If you do not want to keep X2 on your system you can do a custom install of X2 and just install the effects you want that are going to be missing from Platinum (like R-Mix, V-Vocal). Also the VC-64 has been MIA for a version or so (not sure if it was dropped in X2 or X3) so that's another goodie to watch for from older installs. It's old a rickety though (as is V-Vocal) which is why they were removed. Pre-emptive strike against glitches and complaints I guess.

A VST scan is part of the new SONAR install. But it is not going to help where V-Vocal is concerned. V-Vocal is not a VST plug-in. It is a DirectX plug-in using Roland tech which was not part of the sale to Gibson. Unlike most of the other plug-ins, V-Vocal cannot be selected with the advanced install option. To install V-Vocal requires installing the SONAR program itself. IOW, when running the advanced install option for X2 or before, select the first line in the custom pick list.

Since I also have full installs of X1, X2 and X3 that would explain why I think I saw V-Vocal in my Platinum.

V-Vocal works fine in Platinum, assuming you had it already from X2 or earlier.
It was one of the first things I checked :-)

If you uninstall an older (X2 or before) version of Sonar, it will delete VVocal from your system, even if you still have a newer-older version.

E.g. I uninstalled 8.3 and X1 while keeping X2 & X3. Then I installed Platinum. VVocal was gone from the system, but somehow VVocal was still in the RFX menu. Platinum crashed from trying to add RFX VVocal. Also when I opened an earlier project in Platinum that has VVocal on it, Plat crashed. To be fair, X3 and probably X2 also started behaving this way.

I reinstalled X2 over itself to get back a working VVocal. Then I reinstalled Platinum to get the latest versions of various dll's that X2 seemed to put in the shared & common areas.

You can be sure of that given your uninstalls of X1 and less.

Yes, there is a warning at the beginning of every version of SONAR X3 and before about removing older versions. Removing older versions can result in loss of shared binaries. This warning goes on to recommend removing old versions before installing the new version. Unfortunately, V-Vocal is no longer included so the damage done by removing old versions is not healed by installing the current version. V-Vocal has not changed for some time so several uninstallers make think it is OK to delete.

The loss of VVocal functionality is a lot less surprising than the crashes that result.

Yeah, missing V-Vocal should not crash SONAR. Have you written a Problem report about it?

Not something we can fix. Probably the VVocal uninstaller did a bad job and only partially removed itself.

Hello, So I finally got around to getting Platinum a couple weeks ago.. I went from 8.5 straight to Platinum. I was getting the job done so to speak with 8.5 never felt the need to switch, that and dropping cheese on something I already had.( pretty stupid thought process)I have some catching up to do..It took me a moment to figure out the skyline setup. IT IS AWESOME! Now I am able to use my duel monitors proper with sonar. So I am new to writing into these forums but I need some help on this one, with the topic V Vocal. I used it quite a bit in 8.5. And I do not see it here in Platinum, but the big issue is, any clips I have with it v vocal on it are silent. I am hoping I can go into my plugin manager and find it. Fingers crossed on that!! If it is the case I am not able to find it could anyone let me know what I need to do to remove the v vocal process off my clips so I get the sound back. I am hoping I will be able to import it.
Thats one issue I have come across with platinum the second. I bought Yamaha DXT430k EDrums. I'm not new at midi setup but I am having one hell of a time trying to clear up the latency issue I am having with it. I have other midi devices that I have no issue with.
I just installed my old UA 25ex interface to see if maybe that might help, but nope that the case.. I have looked everywhere to find a solution and nothing seems to work. PLEASE ANY SUGGESTION anyone?

VVocal is no longer delivered with recent versions of Sonar. Separation from Roland and all that.

But if you reinstall your 8.5 (minimal installation, no plugs), you'll get VVocal back again and it will work as a region effect. Your old projects should work again, too. If you uninstall 8.5 you'll lose VVocal again.

Are you using any audio plugins with the DTX? If so, as a test remove them, toggle the PDC button, and see if that fixes the problem.

scook has no need for a free membership. He conjures up SONAR whenever he needs it solely from his powers of concentration. Rumor has it he even conjured up SONAR on an iPad for several minutes before it dissipated and turned into GarageBand, but this has never been proven.

He refuses to talk about this for some reason although to be fair, as a species Alpha Centaurians are characteristically somewhat shy.
