I've had this happen when the clip is too big to be processed in one chunk. Splitting it into sections resolved the issue. Q.

You may be running into the same problem I've just been fighting with for the last couple hours and may just have solve. In my case I was working with an imported wave file(from pro tools) that started about 1300 measures from the start which I dragged to the start of file. If I selected the whole clip I got the greyed out menu like you; if I selected a small area I could get the "Create V-Vocal Clip" showing up in menu but would not do anything. The solution for me was to first bounce down the track to a clip and then BANG there it was. It has come up and created the V-V clip. I have no idea yet if I will be able to do what I want because it is from a live recording with lots of bleed in(couldn't fix with Melodyne) but at least I have it up and functioning.

Try bouncing the clip to a new clip. Just select the clip, right-click and choose "Bounce to Clip(s)". See if you can't make a V-Vocal clip from it then.

Does this happen with all clips, or just with certain ones?

Might be time to reinstall Sonar. I can't replicate the problem. It works on my system.

Just reinstall over the current installation. You shouldn't lose anything.

I've had similar things happening. I think it might be related to clips that has been adjusted with AudioSnap someway. As Bitflipper suggested, Bounce to Clip solved it for me. Best Regards Ludvig

I've had this, but a bounce to clip has always worked. Seems that V-V requires the clip not to have any realtime processes working on it - this includes any envelope adjustments you might have on the clip, as well as AudioSnap.

bouncing to clip worked for me, thanks BitFlipper, Wood67, that does make sense to not have real time processing active...when i think about it. Wow thanks guys, this was the quickest fix i have had in awhile....
