Vahalla Plugins Stop Working or Crashing?
Hello. Anyone here using Vahalla reverbs and having the same trouble as I am experiencing? Right now, I am auditioning a VahallaVintageVerb and VahallaRoom and going to either one, the other or both (because I can't decide which one I like more!). However, despite having the 64-bit demos installed, I am experiencing a crash in the plugin, i.e. it basically stops working. Keep in mind, Sonar doesn't crash, but the reverb effect just stops. What I get is an audio crash vs. a visual crash (e.g. plugin screen goes white, freezes, etc.)--the reverb sound just quits. Turning on/off the plugin inside the FX bin does not help either. The only remedy is to delete the plugin and re-insert a new instance into the FX bin. The crash seems to occur when changing the preset, color (in VintageVerb) or reverb mode. EDIT: I should add that the plugin is being used in Sonar X2a Producer-64b and within a stereo aux bus for REVERB only. I emailed Sean at Vahalla, and he responded very quickly but was unaware of any issues, especially with VahallaRoom, which has been tried and true for a couple of years now. Curious to know other experiences and feedback from you guys. Thanks!

I have been using all the 64bit Valhalla plug-ins in X2 since X2 was released. They have never given me any problems.

I've never had that happen with VintageVerb or Ubermod. If I clone a track with Ubermod, it will screw up, but it's never crashed.

I've had nothing like that with the 64 bit version of Valhalla Room, it works like a dream.

Thanks, guys. I edited my original post for clarity. The crash is not like our beloved WSOD or similar. Instead, the "reverb" effect just stops. Maybe, somehow inadvertently, the mix is being put to 0%. I will have to do a couple other checks, but for now, both plugins are acting funny now and then. On a side note, I can't decide which one to get, so I should just get both! Haha! VVV sounds stupendous on the Waldorf Q while Room sounds a bit better on drums (the "plate" and "studio" presets in Room are quite good, IMO).

All the plug-ins are in the process of updated. You might want to wait an see what the new versions act like in your environment. I had forgotten about the cloning issue http://forum.cakewalk.com/FindPost/2856572.

I can only guess, but maybe it's something to so with the demo time-outs built into the plugins. I've used Valhalla Rm for 2 or 3 years and it has been very solid. You may want to reset/rescan your vst's to clear out any bad bits and pieces. Also, you may want to only run one demo at a time since I think he uses a time out on each plug. BTW - I want to get his latest vintageverb because I hear such glowing reviews. But having valhalla room along with other nice verbs at my disposal, I don't really need it. I will add it at some point though. Sean releases great products at a great value. I'm a fan.

I agree with musicroom. Just buy the ones you like and enjoy! (or) Ask in the support link at Valhalladsp.com and Sean will probably respond to you personally.

If Sean does not reply personally you probably won't get an answer at all. He is ValhallaDSP.

Are they in the process of being updated for real? Also, does VahallaDSP (i.e. Sean) provide updates free of charge? VahallaRoom, for example, has been upgraded several times over the years that has resulted in a re-issue of the plugin. Just wondering if it was free every time. musicroom BTW - I want to get his latest vintageverb because I hear such glowing reviews. Ha! I'm moderately cheap, so I must justify to myself the need for anything, including reverb plugins in this case. Room or VintageVerb, but not both!? When it's all said and done, I'll most likely just end up getting both! Overall, the shear number of reverb modes, types and presets in VahallaRoom is the main draw for me. Basically, it's going to get me what I need. Like I said before, I seem to prefer the non-plate "plates" on drums from VahallaRoom vs. the real plate verbs in VintageVerb. Also, though I can get VintageVerb brighter sounding with EQ and high-cut tweaks, it's still not as bright and "bouncy" as VahallaRoom, IMO. Sometimes I prefer this brightness to add a little shine on a darker synth note or an accoustic instrument sample. Sean knows what he's doing; he wants us to buy both!!!

I tested both and ended up with V3, but Vroom is so highly regarded you probably can't go wrong. Play around with Ubermod and you'll want it too.

Yes all of the plug-ins are being updated. Sean has discussed the update on both his blog and kvr forum. Updates are not that often. Updates so far have been free. The major reason for this update is AAX but Sean has commented that he is adding something extra to all the plug-ins so that everyone will feel the benefit of the next release.
