Vanishing synths...

I will frequently close a synth when I switch views, and there are many times like tonight when I can't pull the synth back up.

I can still select input echo on the corresponding track and play the synth, but nothing I do will bring it up on the screen. I've tried double-clicking on the midi icon, and have tried to select the synth in the track midi settings like the old days, with no luck.

Anybody else see this? This actually happened to me in 8.5 as well. Is there a key binding that will pull the 'synth view' up?

It does seem somewhat random, but I know it has happened with Dim Pro, Rapture, and SD3.

Thx,
Vernon

    Hi Vernon,

I had this happen in one project in X1, only difference is, I would get no output from the synth. I would double click the midi icon and nothing would happen. I pulled up the browser and looked at the synths and it was there but disabled with ()'s around the synth name. Nothing I did would activate it. I ended up deleting it and reloading the synth and rerouting the midi tracks to the new synth.
I think I just saw another thread about something similar in the X1 forum.

I was running X1b before any of the quick fixes when this happened to me.

you can set up a keybinding or ACT command for open current plugin.  On my controller I have one button setup to open current plug, one to focus next plug, and one to close current plug.  This helps me to move around my plugins without ever grabbing the mouse.

    Bub,

When you see ()'s around the synth name it means they somehow got disabled in the synth rack.  This happened to me and took me awhile to figure it out.  Hope that helps...

When the Synth Rack has focus, 'C' enables/ disables the selected synth in the SR rather than opening/ closing the Control Bar. Maybe you hit 'C' in the SR by accident and didn't realize that synth got disabled? I've done that a few times.

Wow. I never would have thought of that.

Seth, do you guys have a secret list of keybinds somewhere? I thought I saw it in the manual, but I didn't think it was complete like that.

They're in the Help file, IIRC. I'm not sure if 'C' in the Synth Rack is listed. Could be a bug/ holdover from the old bindings. I'll look into it.

    Seth,
Sure enough, hitting C while in the synth rack does make it so I can't pull up the synth, but I noticed when I do it this way the synth is no longer active and will not play. When I've experienced this in the past, the synth continues to play normally.

However, it looks like this definitely has to do with what I'm experiencing, so it gives me some direction if it should occur again.

    Thanks for the response!
