Various problems with X1/midi

    new to Sonar X1. I would like to record some sort of "hybrid project" using both my e-drum kit (Millenium basic kit) recorded in midi (via USB connection to the computer) and triggering a VST like Session Drummer or even simply the Cakewalk TTS1 basic kit and other instruments like guitars recorded in audio (connected via USB to the computer too). With the drums, the first trys are a complete nightmare. Latency everywhere. I can record my track but without the VST sound (only with the kit sounds). Then when I hit play after selecting the VST of my choice, the drum track is ok to listen, except that it is no more sync with other instruments that I could have in the project.
    As for the guitar, it is recorded from a Blackstar amp via USB and the Insider software. As soon as I open an audio track in the same project to start recording while listening to my drum track/playback previously recorded, the drums sound (with the TTS1) becomes very bad. Broadly speaking, all that I tried using the e-drums via midi, and a single project gathering both e-drums via midi and guitar via audio (being both connected directly to the computer with USB) seems to generate conflict (error messages, etc.).
    Does anyone have an idea to solve these problems?

    thanks for your answer. My electronic drum kit is connected via its USB cable (normal size) directly to an USB port of the computer. Same for the amp, directly into another USB port of the computer (both exactly like you would connect an USB key). I do not have a special guitar interface but I use the INSIDER software, which works together with the Blackstar amp and allows you to pilot your amp from the computer, create and save patches, etc. To conclude, I do not have an USB audio interface. Do you think it might be the cause of the conflicts, error mesages, etc. ?

An audio interface designed for recording should lead to greater recording satisfaction.
While the Blackstar can be connected to the computer and you can record that input, most of these devices must use the MME driver to work. MME is not the best for recording; it's extremely slow.
I have a Fender Mustang I which has some of the same features as the Blackstar, but I would never try to record from it's USB.
Consider getting an interface; check out the signatures of folks who post here to see what they use. Good interfaces can be had for ~$150, or up to many thousands of dollars.
