Various software titles

I am confused by all the many software titles used for SONAR / Cakewalk

Music Producer
Studio Producer
SONAR X1, X2, X3

What do you get with all of these?

Specifically, if you have "Cakewalk Sonar X3" - do you have the ability to record audio tracks, midi tracks etc. and mix them?

TIA

My friend, all versions will do at least what you have inquired about. MIDI composing, controlling, editing, FX, recording editing and audio recording editing mixing the whole 100 yards.

X1, 2 and 3 are earlier version just like Windows 7 and 8 from previous years. Studio, producer, songwriter, musician and Platinum are names which indicate how big is this software package. Platinum contains all the magical whistle and bell, more than you need.

    Good luck

The current version is Sonar Platinum. It is the version after Cakewalk Sonar X3. I am not familiar with the others Music Producer and Studio Producer.

To answer your question on recording audio and midi and mixing with Cakewalk Sonar X3, the short answer is yes. However, recording and mixing is a very big topic.

    Win 10 (64 bit), i7-2600k 3.4GHz , 8 GB RAM, SATA III (500GB SSD - System, 2TB WD Black - Data), Sonar Platinum x64, m-audio Profire 610

Yes. This lists the four current software choices. Anything else is an older version and no longer sold, unless you can find a boxed version at a retailer.

Many many thanks guys. I really appreciate the help. I have X3 on the way to me. I bought Cakewalk years ago and have used it off and on. I'm getting back into it to try to produce some backing tracks for my duo. I have some great drum track samples to work with and hope to be able to get adept at slicing things together, maybe occasionally ad a bass track or keys track.

Funny how we have all the tools to do these things but it takes real dedication to get good enough to make them work well and actually make something useful!

I hope that they will have some path for me to upgrade from X3 without spending hundreds of dollars. We shall see. I know they have deals from time to time.

Till the end of the month Sonar Platinum which is the flagship Cakewalk product is available as an upgrade from Sonar X3 Producer for $149 after that it will be $199.
If you just bought X3 you may qualify for a free upgrade. Why not contact customer support.
