Sigh. Spent so much on software lately but I'm in.

So something to note is that this pack includes Sound Forge Pro 10, which is Sony's audio editor that is kinda like Wavelab from Steinberg. Supposedly the upgrade to 11 is free. Given that Sound Forge alone costs more than this, it is a good deal.

I had to go for it because I've wanted a heavy hitting editor for a long time, but haven't wanted to spend the money. Sound Forge Audio Studio works well, but it can't do all the things one might want (like surround).

Vegas is just a bonus. I can't imagine actually having much use for it, since I have it at work, but hey, doesn't hurt to have.

For those that haven't used it, Vegas is a pretty heavy hitting NLE video software (audio too). Not quite on par with Avid Media Composer, but close. You can cut TV show/movies with it, and people do.

Vegas also makes a decent multi-track adio editor since that is where its roots lie.

    That's an amazing deal

Yep, that's an off-the-charts deal; Vegas Pro alone sells for $599, and they're kicking in SoundForge which goes for $399... and selling the whole deal for $299.

This is the one to go for if you're a first-time buyer of Sony software products.

Mine was that sickly mustard. Yep, donuts & great for lawn jobs.
My brother who was an engineer at GM, designed & fabricated a custom stereo for it. Sounded fantastic & in quad.
(drove it to catch Floyd's Dark Side tour in concert too, quad was 'in' back then)
At one time I put in 'Mind Blower' speakers mounted on a wooden frame.
Way before RAP, this sleeper stereo was loud!
Crappy car, but great times & music.

That reminds me of the '71 Econoline I had...

It was White, had Cragars and 60's all the way round, was divided into 2 rooms,
the front one was Red Shag carpet with Paneling and the back room was Gold
Shag carpet with Paneling.  I bought Red Velvet Captains Chairs, and put Red Pillowed
Velvet on the Dash and Dog house, and a Custom Wooden and Chrome Steering Wheel.
It had a Pioneer Super Tuner...which cost an arm and leg back then, and 2 Full Size Top of the
Line Utah Home Stereo Speakers.  We used to go to the park to play frisbee, open the back doors and set the
speakers at the back and blast the music.  It was a slant 6 with a 3 on the Tree...Oh yeah...good times!

Those were the days my friend...those were the days!

Okay, does someone know the details of why this product isn't listed in the Vegas products at Sonycreativesoftware.com? I have and use Movie Studio Platinum. My upgrade price to Vegas Pro is $499. Comparison of Vegas products can be found at http://www.sonycreativeso..re.com/vegaspro/compare but, again, I've not been able to find "Premium" mentioned or available from Sony?

Likely because there is no such product per say.  It's just several products bundled together.  Kind of like what Sonar did with it's Production Premium package or whatever it is they called it. It's a great deal regardless.

Supposedly, the upgrade is free to 11 with this pack. We'll see when it arrives. That aside, SF 10 is pretty good.

Thanks Dub.., no doubt a great deal and $270 cheaper than upgrading from Studio -> Pro ($499) - just find it a bit odd.

Even if there were not a free upgrade to SF11 it would be hardly noticeable.  The differences are minor.   They made it operate with Spectral layers better and added  a locked version of what is basically nectar elements.

    I'm now 229/= poorer..

I've been using Corel Visual Studio X5 / X6 for video editing, but it hangs a lot, especially when there are lots of clips moving about. The audio feature is somewhat limited. Gonna give Sony Vegas Pro a try.

Vegas  doesn't seem to have any issues with hanging on large projects, though to be sure my usage of it is more limited than some people. No audio limits of any kind to speak of in Vegas, since its original heritage is actually a DAW, not a NLE.

Only thing to note is that the included audio effects tend to have a design on speed, not quality. It loads DX and VST effects though so you can use any others you have that you like without issue.

Also it supports buth CUDA and OpenCL acceleration of video effects, but with cards like you have, it will probably be faster to leave everything on the CPU (you can tell it how to handle things). Also in the past I've had issues with OpenCL, effects crashing when using AMD cards. I've had an nVidia card at work for a couple years now so maybe that is fixed, but I had a lot of trouble with OpenCL accelerated effects, hence the switch to nVidia and CUDA.

Newegg won't accept none US credit card payment, not even accepting PayPal that is not from US.
Hellomusic also won't. I've gotta ask for my friend's help in the US for this, so they are not my regular go to store.

awesome.  I'm hoping the next SF has something more enticing to upgrade too in the next version.  i just couldn't make myself pay to get nectar elements and more compatibility wit ha program i don't use. One thing I like about Sony is they usually don't punish you for skipping an upgrade cycle
