Violin Concerto, 3rd movement, Symphony #3, 4th movement

This music was produced in various incarnations of Sonar during the mid to late 1990s.

    Jerry, Most impressive. Astounding composition and performance is even more so. Very beautiful work. I think I know NOTHING about mixing this music but the low end could come up a tad. That was a real treat. Thanks for posting!

    This sounds excellent. In fact, I wonder if you could help me? I am trying to do something with authentic classical sounds (a piece for a string quartet, in fact).

    I therefore want some higher quality than usual classical music sounds that I can access via a plug in from Sonar 8.5. I have tried MOTU Symphonic Instrument but I can't get it to see the VST plug in. Have you any suggestions for alternatives I could try?

    Update: In fact I've just done some searches and people seem to be recommending

    Garritan Pocket Orchestra
    Edirol HQ Orchestral
    Miroslav Philarmonik

    what do you reckon is the best out of the above for a decent plugin using Sonar 8.5, Windows XP and EMU1616?

    I would consider Kontakt (full version) which comes with many orchestral sounds based on the VSL library.  Though you won't get the full library (that is over $8000) you will get many of the sounds of equal quality. Kontakt will run under Sonar as a VSL plugin.  Make sure you research how to configure Windows for optimal audio performance; there are many settings that give priority to audio processing.  Without these tweaks you will not get the best performance for music production.  There are too many for me to list here, but if you search for the information on the internet it is readily available.

    Very nice. Also quite realistic sounding. What synths were used in this composition?

    Extremely awesome! The samples are very realistic sounding! The composition and arrangements are fantastic also. I love the Gypsy vibe I felt from the first selection.

    The second selection gives me the feeling of being at a movie in a large theater. The mix is panned out nicely, giving almost a surround sound experience. Wonderful stuff!!!!

    A++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

    P.S. I hope Rik and Janet listen to these so that they can get a better idea of what I was talking about in their song thread.

    Actually, I can't remember, it was about 10 years ago and my studio has gone through several incarnations since then.  I believe I was using the Garritan string library, Dan Dean winds and the Roland XV-3080 synth.  But not absolutely sure about that.

    Best,
