Vir2 BASiS bass guitar virtual instrument -opinions

Hello All-

Looking for a reasonably priced ($100 or so) bass guitar virtual instrument, to be used mostly for pop/rock. I am thinking about the Vir2 BASiS product ($99 at bigfishaudio). Any opinions/suggestions -including suggestions for other products- are welcome.

    NI's Jay_Bass and Pre-Bass

I have both and they're both very good/useful. Take a listen to the demo's.....

BTW, if you don't mind buying at KVR, you can get both for $70 (or less if you bargain ): http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=43&t=459677&hilit=scarbee

I've dealt with this guy a few years back and didn't have any issues (just looking at the convo we had he did like to haggle a bit, but he's been a regular at KVR).

I suggest taking a look at the Gibson Bass Collection for Rapture Pro and Rapture Session ($49). Craig did a really nice job on this update: 3 different basses, optimized for playing from a keyboard.

Tastes great! Less filling! [well, in musical terms: Sounds great! Less expensive!]

$99 for the Vir2 instrument is an excellent value.

I have bass libraries I like better (my go-to bass is the Orange Tree Rickenbacker), but they're more expensive, require full Kontakt and most are one-trick ponies. Vir2 gives you a whole bunch of bass instruments, including electric, acoustic and synthetic (although it's a bit heavy on the synth bases for my taste and I'd rather use a synthesizer anyway).

For 99 bucks, I'd go for it in a minute if I wasn't already well-covered for basses. And if I had 99 bucks...

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.
