Visible Display on Control Bar of Audio Driver Buffers...

Like most folks I occasionally need to set my audio driver buffers...which I normally run at 96...to something higher...say 512 or 1024 when I'm loading plugs and mixing.  I know we can't have a track/mix button on the control bar that would toggle the audio interface between two settings...but....why can't we have a current buffer settings display on the control bar?  I'm constantly pulling up projects which I need to track stuff...like guitars...in only to find my latency is waaaay too long due to the fact that the last project I worked on was a mix and my buffers were left at 1024.  Any chance of a heads up display that clearly shows what your device driver buffers are currently set at??
