Wow - not exactly glad there's so many people who have to time their recordings precisely, but refeshing to learn I'm not the only one.

Our studio is in the bedroom containing the water heater for hot water & central heating.

not a problem in summer, but in winter, I have to switch off the heating, shut all the windows & door and hope for the best.

Luckily, it is the quietest room in the house, and we've got some really good results with the singer facing out into the room, backed into a corner which has got a king size duvet haging in the corner.

I'm so accustomed to recording with background noise, I'm not sure I could get used to a quiet environment. I live 100 yards from one of the world's busiest freeways, the 405 north out of LA. I live in the flight path of the world's indisputably busiest non-passenger airport, the Van Nuys Airport. We have a dog who loves to bark, and a parrot who loves music, and who also loves to bark. I take the John Cage approach: extraneous elements become part of the music.

A few guitars, a couple of basses, a MIDI controller, a mandolin, a banjo, a mic, PodFarm2
