Vocal to midi and then use that with one of the instruments

So here is what i want to do , Record my vocal,And then turn that vocal into midi and then use that midi in one of the instruments in sonar.
I have platinum by the way .

In the really quick google search i done in work , I saw that people were using Melodyne to achieve it , But can it be done purely in Sonar  ?

Can i get some very basic instructions on what to do please  ?

Many thanks

Dan

Edit - so i just tried it by just dragging the Aduio track onto a midi track with a instrument but it is missing all the intricacies of the audio track. How can i get it to pick up more from the original audio track  ?

You have to use Melodyne to get pitch from the midi.

Once it is a Melodyne region you can drag it to a midi clip to convert to midi, as it sounds like you know.

You can help Melodyne understand the clip by doing some cleanup within Melodyne.

I make some videos. This one shows how to do a physical loopback on the RME UCX to get many more equalizer nodes.

Hi. Good advice given already. I was able to just drag the audio clip to a MIDI track, to convert it. I have melodic set as default algorithm in Melodyne. I could also drag clips directly from the Browser, to a MIDI track for conversion.
    All the best.

Yes but when i do that it just play the entire midi track on one single key the whole way through the song . Which i do not want . I want it to pick up all the intricacies of the song .

Scrap that , I did as was suggested and changed Melodyne to Melodic and its working as i want now , Well it needs some work but it is a lot better.

    Thank you both

You would need a Melodyne version that has the polyphonic algorithm.
