VocalSync artefacts after rendering

Hi all,

Yet another thing I hadn't really used much before is VocalSync. On my first attempts, I would create a region fx, specify a guide track, and play with the dial until it sounded right. Then I click render and on the "corrected" results I get lots of artefacts. A bit like severe AudioSnap artefacts pre-rendering. Since this doesn't happen during the "live" algorithm I wonder what is going wrong. Does anyone have a similar experience? Or is there something I'm not doing right?

sometimes the placement, also the strength, don't try and over push it unless something is totally out of whack, in that case sometimes its better to re record, pull an edit from another part of the track, exc.
but you will find good results with not needing to boost to much.

Also use shorter segments. I typically apply it on a phrase-by-phrase basis.

It's just strange that the artefacts are only present after rendering. Like it's using the offline HQ algorithm for live playback and the basic groove clip one for rendering.

Does sound strange that you are getting the results back to front. I use this plugin a lot and mostly get great results. Typically, as Craig states, small phrases, or even one or two words get best results.
Also, as Chuckebaby states, if your sections are too far out of sync, it's better to re-record, or cut and align. Then once you've got it about right, then use VocalSync.

It's supposed to be a time saver, if I have to go word by word there's no use.

It's not an issue with the performance. I'm doing this for rap backings that are already nearly spot on, or harmonies that have identical phrasing and delivery. I can do it manually or via Melodyne as I've done for years, I just thought I'd try out this new tool.

I'll experiment some more, see if the different algorithms work. So far it seems like the problems are on my end at least.

I have the exact experience of this thread starter.  I've tried all suggestions as they were mentioned in other threads. Sanderxpander I would like to know, when you say the artifacts are not there in online mode, Are you checking this in solo, I too thought the artifact were not there, when you hear them both together, this appears to be the case, but if you solo the track before you render it, you may hear the same artifacts.  I'd like to know because when I first used this, I thought there were no artifacts in online mode, but now I hear them in both.

I also believe most people are not using this with the type of vocals we are for this test.
