Vocalist Live Pro

I was wondering if anyone out there has the Digitech Vocalist Live Pro. I cannot, for the life of me, get it to read my MIDI data to turn it into 4-part harmony. I'm using preset 79, which is one of the 4-note presets for such a purpose. I also called Digitech, and they had me change the MIDI cables around. Still did not fix the problem.

I've messed with every setting imaginable, to no avail. This is the 3rd harmonizer I've owned, so I'm familiar with the in's and out's of how they work.

I have one I use live and dont remember which patch I used as a starting point but it generates 2-4 part harmonies for me over one single midi channel , I know the old 4 part harmonizers used 4 separate midi channels for some ..
I can look when I return home

Make sure you have the correct setting for the musical IQ function, there is a setting for midi response

I've tried both the MusicQ MIDI and Other (for custom settings). Neither one work. All I get is a monophonic voice, even though the MIDI track has 4-part harmonies.

BTW, Digitech sent me an email, saying that the generated MIDI info has to come from one track, not several. Kind of screwy, since you can break the voices down over tracks 1-4.

    Like your B3 pic, BTW.

ok lets check a few things

maybe your hearing the lead voice is the harmony rotary pot on the front panel turned up?the levels section

    is the system bypass on?

is the harmony fx button on?

on the lcd panel to the right under musIQ you should see a number and an arrows, these indicate the # voices and direction

    musIQ™
This option selects the musIQ technology for the Harmony Mode. musIQ eliminates the
    need
to enter key and scale information into the product as it listens to the notes/chords played
on a guitar or keyboard and automatically adjusts the harmony voices to assure that they fit
with the music being played. Real-time processing discerns the individual notes, chords and
key signatures that are played to automatically generate appropriate vocal harmonies that
complement the lead vocal. With musIQ, you can focus on your live singing and playing
performance, and discard song programming once and for all.
The musIQ Harmony Mode can be selected using this sub-menu, or by using the Harmony
Mode musIQ Guitar or musIQ MIDI buttons on the front panel. If the menu is used to select
the musIQ Harmony Mode, assure that the correct Guitar musIQ or MIDI musIQ Harmony
Mode button is selected on the front panel to match your application. Once musIQ Harmony
Mode has been selected, the musIQ Harmony Voicings must be defined either by using the
options found in the Voicings Patch menu or in the musIQ Voicings menu in the Advanced Edit
    Mode menu

check pages 39-44 of the manual and make sure you have the settings turned on

If all fails do a factory reset

I tracked down the problem. I was using an old sequencing program (Bars & Pipes Pro, using the Amiga Forever emulator). While I'm comfortable with Sonar's MIDI capability, I prefer outputting synthetic harmonies to my MacBook Pro and importing the tracks back into Sonar. I'm sorry, but running the MIDI chain within Sonar doesn't seem to work, at least not without a blood sacrifice and some chanting to the spirits.

I fed the MIDI data via a more up-to-date sequencer. Voila! Problem solved.

maybe then something got hosed in your transferring/translations,
anyway glad its working now for you
the VL pro is a nice harmonizer if layered in the mix just right, it still can sound a little plastic..

I have tried most of them, I have in my rack in the studio
    a Digitech midi vocalist
    digitech studio vocalist
    TC helicon Quintet
    TC Helicon Voice works
    TC helicon Voice one
I have a TC Voice Live touch (which sounds like poo)
TC helicon Voice Live 1 which has, to me the best pitch correction and tracking
and my VL pro in my live rack

plus software harmonizers by antares and and old powercore  element with voice modeling and harmonization plugins which is no longer is in use
