Vocalist rhythm not so great
I have a song with a vocal part that no matter how many times I have them redo it it is still not licked in tight and Im super sensitive to rhythm problems. The drum part and bass, synths, and other instruments are midi playing software instruments. How can I fix the vocal without messing up the pitch? Is audiosnap a tool that can do this? I've stayed clear of ever using audiosnap cause even though I have watched the video time and time again it still is confusing and in my opinion never explain it fully enough.Could someone help me it would really make my life easier if I could just fix rhythmic problems rather than have someone rerecord a part

Method 1: Split the clips as needed and use the nudge keys (number pad 4 and 6) to shift them back and forth. Method 2 (finer grain editing): Change the edit filter to show transients. Enable the Audiosnap palette (press A) and slide only the transients slider to show more/less transients. Then on any clip that's out of time, grab the vertical lines to move audio data back or forth. You can click-drag to select multiple transients. Bounce your clips down after you edit with method 2 to render the audiosnap changes.

V-Vocal is the perfect tool for this sort of editing.

V-Vocal or Melodyne do this stuff easily. However, if you really want detailed info, it might be useful to post your song on the Song forum where we could hear it and really dissect it for you. A real life example would be so much better than a written description.

hey thanks for all the help you guys are good dudes!I appreciate the insight and suggestions of more experienced producers/mixers. Where do I post the song?I mean the vocal part is just not in tempo, plain and simple and i cannot afford the melodyne unfortunately.I did haVE it once but that was before I got rid of all the not really ok for me to have(pirated)software.I just didnt feel right using it although it has been rough cause I dont have even 1 percent of what I did but, thats ok its better not to steal, anyways got off topic there. Oh and is there a step by step video of vvocxal bieng used for all kinds of effects and fixes?and not the cakewalk one nor the eli krantz one cause they did not explain it at all(in my opinion) Thanks again and Ill put a link up to my dropbox if anyone wants to hear the song,it has two singers in it.One is more clear and "silky" the other is rougher, off pitch and out of tempo, hehe

Stephen, if you have a Soundclick or Soundcloud account, you can post your song there. That will enable the song to be streamed directly from their sites instead of downloading it onto our hard drives. BTW, V-Vocal can do pretty much the same job as Melodyne. It changes the timing of notes as well as their pitch. stephenthemartyr hey thanks for all the help you guys are good dudes!I appreciate the insight and suggestions of more experienced producers/mixers. If you do decide to split clips and move manually AudioSnap can help with this too. You select the clip you want to split, enable AudioSnap, and there is a Split to Clips feature. Even if you don't stretch with Audio Snap it can be nice to have it split everything for you. :-) Peace, Tunes

Using V-Vocal, you don't need to split your clips (apart from making sure they're in reasonably sized chunks - a verse, a chorus etc). You simply double click on a transient which is audibly out of time and drag it to where it should be. You can also set 'anchor' points to prevent movement of words that are IN time.
