Voice Recorder for iPhone?

What's the best one you've found?  The one that comes with iPhone is OK, but whenever I hit 'stop' and go back to the main menu, the recording starts playing right away.  NOT what I want it to do.

Thanks!

I get that same feeling when I play back a take of my vocals.

Hmmm I don't think GarageBand is available for iPhone?,

But if so?, then I guess anyone could easily record a conversation all whilst dropping in some beatz and presto... another Rap tune is ready for release.

I shoulda been more specific...sometimes amazing tunes pop into my head and I want to hum them into my recorder so I don't forget them.

I don't know what happens to them between the phone recording and the DAW recording, but they're never quite as amazing. Maybe there's an app for that too?  :)

Inspiration strikes me when I least expect it, just early this morning at 4.am I wrote down lyrics (3 verses and a chorus).  As for music (hooks) if I remember it?, then that's good enough!

Suggest; Get a dedicated digital WAV/MP3 recorder for example, something basic like this -- there are better or you can find something even-more compact.

Recorder plus is good . There is a free version and a pay for it version. I don't remeber the difference between the paid for or free one. I think it was editing capabilities. You can see the wave form while you record in both versions.

Well try out the free version and then ... U decide

    Hi Janet,

Hope all is well.  I use my iPhone's Voice Memos all the time for this.  I like to be able to email off the wave so I can upload it into into an audio track if I want.

I let them stack up and then go through them on the phone to see what was really a keeper or not.  Seems most are keepers LOL!  I can't remember the ones I don't record DUh!

Just getting back to this.  Paul, the free version is limited to 30 seconds, but that shouldn't be too bad.  I can still remember one of my dumb phones.  The limit was about seconds...and only about 10 recordings.  :)

Rimshot...load it into an audio track?  Well, your recordings are obviously WAY better than mine!  :)

No, I meant to keep the audio as reference - not to use  LOL - wouldn't that be awesome if it could be used?

OIC. :)  I usually just hum the first few bars or the chorus (or whatever it decides it's gonna be), so I hopefully remember later what awesomeness was in my head at that time.   Then I can just play it back when I get some time at the piano and/or DAW and see if I can re-create it or figure some way to finish it.   Since I can't hum chords, though, sometimes it just won't come back to me and I end up thinking 'well THAT was nice, Janet!  '

Thank you, Y. Pal.  :)  Simple works for me.  Going 3 layers deep to add a name to it isn't my idea of simple though...
