Volume Control Slider Using Midi Keyboard (MAudio) causes multiple volume controls to move

PLEASE help before I loose my mind (what is left). I have a somewhat complicated rig consisting of 3 soft synths (Garritan PO, Steinburg Orchestra, Omnisphere), and 5 Roland Rack Synths (2 JV1080s and 3 JV 1010s).
 
I have TWO Midi controllers using the 1 controller to run the HARDWARE Synths set to midi channel ONE and 1 controller to run the software synths set to midi channel 2. 
 
When I set the sliders on the keyboard controllers for the hard synths to control the volume - the MIDI VOLUME - all is fine. Then I set the 2nd Midi controller to allow control of the Soft synths AUDIO channel volume (not MIDI VOLUME) and they also start affecting the Hardware Synths Volume. I have used the remote control function and set it to LEARN and have tried to tell the learn function MIDI CHANNEL 2 for one set of volume controls and MIDI CHANNEL 1 for the other. The Learn function either (somehow) sets the midi channel BACK TO 1, OR if I set it to Midi channel 2 and it does not automatically change, the volume control slider no longer works. 
 
Any ideas or do you need a deeper explanation?
